Hopedale Medical Complex provides job shadowing to students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Students can shadow clinical or non-clinical positions at HMC. It is our hope that we provide a meaningful introduction to job positions that can be found in healthcare and the awareness of the academic, technical, and personal skills required by particular jobs in the healthcare environment.
Goals
- Observe the daily routine of a staff member in a potential career field.
- Identify an interest in healthcare.
- Better understand the academic, technical, and personal skills of the interested position.
Interested in Job Shadowing?
- Complete the application. Be prepared to answer the following questions.
- Explain what you hope to gain from the experience.
- Provide the name, phone number and email address of the teacher/guidance counselor who will sponsor you.
- Provide a day of the week, time of day and month that would accommodate your schedule to job shadow.
- Please list two options of positions to shadow.
- Once the request has been completed our HR team will review the request, contact your sponsor and connect with the HMC department that your shadow would be under.
- The HR team will reach out to you to set up the time/day.
- Prior to the day of your job shadow, you will need to comply with our HIPAA policy, the HMC code of conduct, HMC dress code and HMC safety waiver.
On the Day of Your Job Shadow
- Students must dress appropriately in business casual attire with closed-toe shoes and no visible tattoos or facial piercings.
- Students must wear their school ID badge while at the complex.
- Cell phones are prohibited during the experience.
- Students must provide their own transportation to and from the facility.
