Rebuilding Heart Health After a Cardiac Event
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised education and exercise program designed for people who have had a ‘cardiac event’. The goal is to improve a patient’s overall physical function and quality of life following a heart attack, heart surgery stents, TAVR or valve repair. The risk of another cardiac event is reduced through cardiac rehabilitation and keeps present heart conditions monitored and controlled.
Cardiac rehabilitation is often divided into three phases: monitored exercise, nutrition counseling, and emotional support and education regarding helpful lifestyle changes.
Phase IIPhase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is typically designed for patients who have recently had a cardiac event. Patients wear heart monitors while exercising and attend classes to learn about living with heart disease. Patients are taught how to modify their lifestyle to improve their quality of life.

Phase IIIPhase III is for graduates of Phase II or patients who have other health/wellness concerns. Participants receive individual attention and are closely monitored throughout their exercise program by nursing staff. This phase can be completed at home but is typically more successful with the support staff and peer support of the Wellness Center. Phase III and Medically Supervised Exercise are not covered by insurance but are a free service with a Wellness Center Membership.
