Brett is the captain of the Turks football team, a member of the basketball team, and a participant in student council. Brett’s nominator described him as a positive leader who also gives his time to young football players at football camp and JFL.

Ellie Klokkenga Named August Athlete of the Month

Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine in collaboration with Hopedale Medical Complex is pleased to announce Ellie Klokkenga from Hartsburg-Emden High School as our August Athlete of the Month. A senior, two-sport athlete, Ellie’s talents extend beyond the volleyball court and softball field. She is an excellent example of a student athlete, carrying a 4.0 GPA. She is also the Student Council and FFA president. In addition, Ellie is an active member of her church community.

Gamechangers in Our Community for 20 Years

Celebrating 20 years of service, the Hopedale Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Program at Hopedale Medical Complex (HMC) knows the importance of having a successful game plan in place when working with student-athletes in our local communities. Beginning in 2005, Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) began to establish relationships with athletic programs in our local school communities. The program has continued to grow over the years because the schools, parents and school boards have come to recognize the value and importance of having ATCs at the schools during interscholastic athletic activity. Current school districts Hopedale Medical Complex contracts with include: Deer Creek-Mackinaw, Tremont, Delavan, and Hartsburg-Emden.

Ryan Kaiser Named Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Athlete of the Year

Hopedale, IL – Hopedale Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine in collaboration with Hopedale Medical Complex is pleased to announce Ryan Kaiser as the 2025 Athlete of the Year. Along with being honored as Athlete of the Year, Ryan receives a $1,000 scholarship from the Hopedale Medical Foundation. Ryan was the recipient of the December Athlete of the Month award for his leadership of the Tremont Basketball team and his excellence in the classroom and extracurricular activities. Ryan is the son of Jeff and Marygrace Kaiser and a 2025 graduate of Tremont High School. He will attend Augustana College to major in Business Administration and play basketball this coming fall.

ICAHN Honors 2024-2025 Rural Health Fellowship Graduates

Hopedale, IL – Three Hopedale Medical Complex employees have completed the 2024-2025 Rural Health Fellowship Program through the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network. The fellowship program is comprised of six-months of study and an in-depth look at rural health and some of the challenges it faces. The program develops leadership and advocacy skills that help Fellows to be a strong voice for rural healthcare. Each of the graduating Fellows was paired with an experienced mentor who provided support and guidance regarding leadership roles and the development of their Fellowship project.
